Dr. Jack Dolbin
Former WR for the Denver Broncos, and starter for the Superbowl XII, Jack's outstanding athletic career led to a keen interest in sports injuries, and the treatment of athletic injuries became his chiropractic specialty. He served as the sports medical director for his hometown Pottsville High School beginning in 1996, and staff chiropractor for Villanova University from 1993 to 2003. He was the team chiropractor for the University of Maryland gymnastic team from 1997 to 2002; and for one year, in 2001, he served as team chiropractor for the U.S. Pan American Weightlifting team. Dr. Dale Morgan
Dr. Morgan served as Team Chiropractor for the Detroit Vipers Hockey team of the International Hockey League from 1995 to 2002.  In this capacity, Dr. Morgan worked directly with the team surgeons, doctors and trainers.  Keeping a chiropractic adjusting table in the trainer's room at the Palace of Auburn Hills arena, Dr. Morgan was often called on to treat the players before, between periods and after games.  A number of former players continue to see Dr. Dale for regular chiropractic care.

Choosing A Location

Getting Patients in the Door

Purchasing Equipment

Hiring Staff

Good Rules to Follow

  1. Don’t go into debt if you don’t need to. This is a time to establish yourself

  2. Get to know the other Chiropractors in the area. This can be a great asset to you and you to them! You may become someone they refer patients to, or a sub when they need to go out of town.

  3. Be willing to ask another Chiropractor for help or advice. They’ve been around and learned how to run a practice, including any pitfalls or obstacles that you may run into.

  4. Become active in your community. The more your public sees and gets to know you, the more your practice can grow.

  5. Contact us! We may be able to help or get you to someone who can. 517-997-6116 - general@fettermanevents.com

What to keep in mind when starting your professional career as a Chiropractor:

  1. Equipment - Technology - Tools and More:
You will be inundated with all of the newest and up-and-coming equipment, technology, tools, etc. While these things may be something you’d like to have or use, you may be able to take time to save up for them rather than put yourself in debt right off the bat! Keep in mind that Chiropractic minimally requires you, your hands and your patient and an adjusting table.

  2. Adjusting Tables:
While you may like to have the latest and greatest Chiropractic Adjusting Table with all the bells and whistles…you may want to start a little more conservatively until your practice has grown enough to spend unnecessarily. Consider buying or borrowing a used table from another Chiropractor in your area to get started. There are many table companies out there who have used tables for sale too. One of our sponsors is Williams Healthcare who has several options for you.

  3. General Office Equipment & Supplies
Unless you’re going into an already established office, you may need a little general office equipment. Try going to a second hand store for things like desks & chairs, desk accessories (pen holders, inboxes, etc) filing cabinets, decorations. Starting out, you may just need the basics - people are coming to you for Chiropractic Treatment and don’t necessarily need to look at a tank of fish as they wait!

  4. Staff
When you open your practice, you will probably have no, or very few, patients lined up to come in. Consider handling your office tasks on your own, or possibly a family member may want to help you out. According to our instructors, many of them started out with their mom helping them in this area until they built up their clientele! If you decide to hire staff, please listen to Dr. Jack Dolbin’s video on this page for some terrific advice to heed.

  5. Advertising
When you are ready to advertise, put yourself in the minds of your public. Some things to consider:
    a. Where will most of the people in my area see my advertisement. Would they see a billboard, a commercial, a flyer, a posting at a locale, etc.
    b. What is the demographic - are they farmers (local eatery for morning breakfasts), fitness gurus (local gym), health conscious (local whole foods), white collar, blue collar…what do a lot of the people do in the area.
    c. Do they read the local paper - or do they just go online for all of their information.
    d. Wording! Many Chiropractors use words that they have learned and use, but the public does not. Subluxation - if someone has not had the experience of going to a Chiropractor, they more than likely will not know what this means. Adjustment - most people know what this word means, but they do not know what YOU mean by an adjustment. Consider WHY they would want to come to you: relieve pain, maintain health and reduce chance of common illnesses, allergies, headaches, etc. Point is to use terms they can relate to personally.
    e. Best advertising is word of mouth! Treat your patients to the best of your ability and get to know your patients. If they trust you, they will refer to you.
